Interesting week
As we all know there will be ups and downs while trying to fight this disease and keep Adele well during this struggle.
This week was a bit down. This week Adele was in the hospital.
Monday afternoon we noticed that Adele was unable to open her mouth on her own. Her jaw was clamped shut and she was trying to open it. Since our last bout with dehydration we weren't going to take any chances so Richard and Brandon took Adele to Mt. SAC hospital. That night (really early morning) she was admitted. They pumped her full of liquids and tried several things to relax the jaw and face muscles. By morning she was able to eat and drink. --3 pancakes, 2 eggs and 24 ounces of juice. She was so hungry and thristy.
They decided to keep her the rest of the week to observe her and to watch her white blood cell count, which is low. Since it is low she can be a prime target for get a cold or flu so they were trying to see if they could boost the numbers before she was sent home.
Adele had lots of family around this week. Each taking their turn caring for her. The nurse staff committed to me that it was so nice to see such a helpful and loving family support Adele.
Friday, I got to spend all day with my sister. It was awesome! She ate and drank real well all day for me. She bathed and had physical therapy too. We even did a little writing. I asked her if she was in pain (at that moment) and she wrote NO. That was so cool!! The next word she wrote was shoes...I think she was ready to go home at that point, or she wanted to go shopping for some shoes.
Adele will be released today, Saturday, Nov. 8.
Adele next big outing is Nov 17 when she has another MRI to see what the treatments have done to the tumor. Our hope is that the tumor has been shrunk so they can operate and take the rest of it out.
