My Mother Is...

My Mother Is… - November 25, 2008
By: Kristen Vasquez

My mother is so many things
It’s really hard to name just one.
Perhaps I can pen and share a few
So you can hear just some.

My mother is selfless…
For she gave of herself not once but five times
To bring us here on Earth.
She put us first and sat back to watch
The lives of which she gave birth.

My mother is giving…
For she gave to others before herself
And was like this with everyone.
To see the joy and help them smile
Was just how things were done.

My mother is friendly…
For there isn’t a place where you can go
Without her saying “Hi”
To those around she didn’t know
Or conversing with anyone nearby.

My mother is helpful…
For if she could be of help to you
In any kind of way.
She would set aside her daily plans
For you at any time of day.

My mother is kind…
For she couldn’t harm the smallest creature
Or leave a sad, small child.
She worried for others and would think of how to help
In her way that was meek and mild.

My mother is a teacher…
For she taught us all the things of the world
And of His greater plan.
Through my life, in our church, and in our home
She taught so we will be all we can.

My mother is creative…
For she was given hands and a mind
To create things beautifully.
She filled our home and shared with others
Her talent so willingly.

My mother is beauty…
For she could look at you with her big blue eyes
And that’s all that you would see.
The world was GREAT with her around
To feel her warmth and to just BE.

My mother is love…
For she had the biggest heart
And showed love to the highest degree.
To feel her love and know of her
Is the greatest gift to me.

My mother is my best friend…
For the phone lines were hot and always busy
Our calls were far from few.
My mom knows me better than anyone else
She’s the best person I ever knew.

My mother is eternal…
What comfort this knowledge brings
As our family pulls through together.
To think that 36 years ago
This all started with a ring inscribed “Til the 12th of never”.

If I can be anything at all
My mother is who I would be.
“Stay close Mom and wait for us.
We’ll soon be there with you for ETERNITY.”
