Baby Blue Eyes - open

This past weekend Adele had many visitors; both from family and friends.
Her uncle Lee and cousin Tracy drove out from Malibu and spent a few hours with her. Tracy brought some pictures from Adele's bridal shower (almost 36 years ago) and some chocolate chip cookies (yum).
Cid and Theresa and the Perfily family also stopped by. Adele took care of 3 of their 4 children when they lived in Ontario. The oldest children also attended Just Ducky, Adele's preschool.
Monday, Heather was home with her mom. They had a real good day. Adele had her eyes open and was very alert. She ate well, did her exercises and was able to stand (with help, of course) for short periods of time. She also was able to hold a cup and put a piece of ice in her mouth. Awesome!!
Tuesday, Mom/Grandma and Brandon got to hang out with Adele.
Again Adele was alert and interested in what was going on. I was over there for breakfast time and made her almost laugh. I had forgot to put the brakes on the wheelchair she was sitting in while eating breakfast. Adele used her legs to push and pull herself back and forth (about 4-6 inches) in front of the table. I told her "oh ooh, I messed up." Mom/Grandma got after me and I told Adele that she got me in trouble and that is when she almost laughed. Her eyes are so expressive!
Brandon and Grandma also made sure that Adele did her exercises. They had her stand and stretch her legs every hour or so. Adele and Brandon "slow danced" a couple of times as Adele patted him on the back as they danced.
Tuesday night, Adele started communicating, non-verbally, with the family. She started nodding yes and no and using "thumbs up" to let them know what she wanted and was thinking.
As she continues with her treatments we are seeing some things improve. Which reiterates the fact that Adele is a fighter.
Please continue to keep Adele in your thoughts and prayers. She/we appreciate it very much. Thank you for your cards, comments and well wishes. We are sharing them with Adele and she loves hearing from everyone.

Much love - - Gail
