First week of treament is done!
Just a quick update on some of the weeks' happenings.
As you know Adele started her Radiation and Chemo treatments this week. She did really well!!
She has gotten a bit weaker in her legs but soon a physical therapist will be coming over a couple of times a week to help with that. (as well as doing exercises in between visits)
Even with the treatments in full swing, Adele is still eating pretty good.
I had dinner with her (and Richard & Erin) on Wednesday.
We had a "cheeseburger" pattie, corn and "smashed" potato salad. It was really good. Adele watched Richard make the potato salad to make sure he did it right. She thought he did a good job.
Adele was fairly "talkative" that night. Joined in the conversation. She has the most expressive eyes around!
After dinner she took a napkin and tore it into fours and then into strips then took a ribbon we had gotten from her craft room and she sat there and crafted away. She tied several bows around the stack of strips. It was awesome to watch. She has always been so artsy-crafty but to watch her with all that she is going through right was just too cool.
Earlier that day she dropped by Kristen and Carlos' to see Sidney and Carson! The kids were so happy to see their Grandma!
Thursday, Mom/Grandma and Dad/Grandpa came over for a visits. Mom/Grandma brought over some colorful "granny" squares she had made as well as a small afghan blanket. (blues and purples w a white edge.) Adele liked it a lot. She took a nap with it later that afternoon.
Friday, Adele and Kristen spent the day together. They went to the doctors together.
Kayli and Nikolaus and I came over later that evening to visit. Kayli gave Aunt Adele a fairy she had made at the ceramic studio.
A guy from the PT service was there talking with Heather and Richard about the exercises Adele will need to start doing to strengthen her legs. Her regular PT guy will be Matt. Adele will have no problem remembering that name, huh, Matthew!?!
First week is done, 5 more to go! After that the doctors will do another MRI to see how the treatments have done.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. (The power prayer does do awesome things!)
Love you all- Gail
